Vote 4 Me!

With the general election this fall, it won't be long before political signs liter the sideways of every highway and byway from here to California. Not wanting to miss out on the action, I'm getting a jump on creating my political Critter signs. Vote 4 Me!!

How to hang a Critter?



Made two Critters this week bases on sketches I created on my ipad. The question i had was how to display these Critters...

The first is the classic Critter. It comes in two pieces and i'll probably glue each to a book so it can sit on a shelf or bench or table..



This second Critter I didn't want to cut in half. i want to find a new way to display these. I thought maybe if i glued something on the back, I could easily clip this Critter to a sign or anything thin that it could hang off of. In this case, it is clipped to a piece of paper that is tacked to the wall..



Not sure how well this will work or hold up. I'll have to take it outside and give it a try.

New Critter Designs



Spent some time on a bus ride back from DC yesterday and decided to paint a new Critter on my ipad. I thought he had character so this morning I decided to bring him out of the ipad.



I'm still trying to decide if I want these two new critters to be books or have a wooden seat or something new. I really want something new but haven't stumbled upon what that might be just yet...

The Block Gallery

Wild Life presents a vibrant and evolving look at our world, engaging viewers through interactive elements, anthropomorphic animals, humor and the science of the natural world.



Block Gallery features paintings by Keith Norval, mixed media works by Ian Sands and glass work by Teddy Devereux. Airing at Block2 (133 Fayetteville St.) is Sermon to the Birds by Jeff Whetstone, reflecting on the original purpose of St. Francis' sermon - which sparked a new consideration of the natural world in both religious and secular realms - and the meaning that these words hold for current society.

Art Teachers find Critter in NYC



Several Critters showed up for the National Arts Educators Association's 2012 Conference. Here we see a Zonkey having fun in Midtown Manhattan. Check out more Critters on their Facebook page.



In fact, all these Critters went to NYC. However, I couldn't let go of the cat. So the cat came home with me. I'm planning on creating more bookshelves similar to the ones currently on display at the Block Gallery, but individual sized, like the one that was auctioned off last year at the NC Museum of Art.
