Signables at Jordan Hall Arts Center Gallery Part ll
Signables: My Signables have taken many forms and there are still many variations of this concept I'd like to explore. The concept is easy. Create art and then let people write on it. The writing then becomes part of the art.
At Jordan Hall Arts Center, I created pieces that resembled coloring book pages. Again, I hung markers. Here are the results after a month of writing.

Books & Bass
I know it's a little Early since the show isn't until the Fall but...
Some of the items I'm getting ready for the Interactive room exhibit. The Interactive Room will present all the things you would find in a room and allow the visitors to add, take away or change anything. By the end of the show, the Room will be a portrait of everyone that has visited.
Currently, I'm working on painting books and my bass...

The Interactive Room
Even though the show isn't till next Fall, I'm getting ready for the Halle. So what will be the theme? Glad you asked. It is going to be called the Interactive Room.
There is so much you can find out about a person just by going into their house. You can look at the food the eat, the books they read, the music they listen too and you will know so much more about a person than you can learn on Wikipedia.
The Interactive Room will present all the things you would find in a room and allow the visitors to add, take away or change anything. By the end of the show, the Room will be a portrait of everyone that has visited.
So how do we start? By erasing the initial "face" and replacing it with white paint.
The Book Case:
I'm painting the covers white so you can write on them. Make them your books.
Do it Yourself Bass Lessons
Pick up the bass. Pluck.

Tear Off Signs
A stick can be the right equipment
In thinking about how people interact, I started looking at what people post on bulletin boards. Today I saw a common type of sign that I thought was pretty simple, yet interactive. Tear Off Signs.
You know, those signs where someone is selling something so they make up a "for sale" sign and then write their contact info several times across the bottom in hopes that someone else will tear off their number and give them a ring.
I thought it might be fun to make a few tear off signs of my own. Here's the first round...
Now to print and post!

The Making of UFO
The project: Using balloons and glow sticks, create a UFO that floats over town.
This is our second attempt. Yesterday, we only had one balloon and unfortunately, it popped during preparation.
Today, we had three balloons which was good because we popped one. Unfortunately, one of our glow sticks didn't work leaving us one glow stick short.
This is the only photo we were able to capture.

The Balloon Garden:
The Balloon Garden is an interactive project created for the Apex Reunion Exhibit at the Halle Cultural Arts Center in Apex, NC.
The garden was made up of about ten helium filled balloons. Inside each balloon was a dollar bill.
Beside the garden was a pair of scissors, tacks and a sign that read:
The Balloon Garden
Each balloon contains a dollar. You may:
Pop a balloon and take a dollar
Cut the string and set a balloon free
Or walk away.
