Remember?

Remember?
No, not really. It was the summer of 1971 according to my mom’s handwriting. I was 6. Funny how mom’s save all this stuff. She has an apple tree that I painted when I was 4.

The other funny thing is, my art hasn’t changed much in the last 35 years. Only I didn’t stress over it so much then. Didn’t worry about style or composition. I just painted. Someday, I’ll get that back. Check back in another 35 years. :P

You did this at 6? No wonder we love your art, the child in you still shines through , and isn't that what being a children's illustrator is all about? Great illustration little Ian. Your mom must have been so proud...and still is, I am sure.

Wow, this is amazing for an illustration done when you were six! Very nice colors, and I really like the shadows on the ground. So glad your mom saved it for you!

Kudos to your Mom for recognizing your talent at such an early age! There is a lot of artistic precocity here...wonderful!
