While I Was Sick...

I have been down and out with a cold and, with the exception of some editing, have done nothing this week. But the rest of the world kept working so I thought I would take a moment and give a shout out to some of the cools stuff going on beyond the world of my couch and tissue box.

This morning was spent watching my daughter pretend she was Rachel Ray as she created and endless assortment of miniature jelly rolls thanks to Julie Monroe’s book, Tiny Treats. Tiny Treats is an American Girl book that has dozens of really cool ways to create doll-sized desserts. My favorite treat is the tiny cake made by placing two Oreo cookies, one on top the other, and then frosting them. So clever!

If you attended, or wanted to attend, or pretended you attended the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators Winter Conference in NYC three weeks ago then you have probably already seen these incredible sketchbook notes by Ruth McNally Barshaw. If not, check them out.

Meanwhile Karen Lee finished all the artwork for One Odd Day by Dani Sneed and Doris Fisher. You can pre-order a copy of the book on the Sylvan Dell website.

Now where did I put that box of tissues?
