Gravity #2 (and Ian Sands old school style)

This is an old illustration I did for a SCBWI contest two Octobers ago. Wow, that's a long time ago! My style has changed a bit, eh?

This was the assignment:

Illustrate a scene showing a child or teen getting ready for the new school year.



I came in second place, over taken by Jennifer Morris.

I would have gotten away with it if it weren't for you meddling kids!

Ian, are you familiar with the illustrator Stephen Gammel? (Will's Mammoth, etc.) Your style reminds me of his. Huge compliment btw!

It is amazing how far you've come. You were so cartoony. You had the energetic line in this but you use it to better effect now. It's kinda nice to go back in order to see how much you've progressed.
